🌲 Bike Park Update 5.0 — Thoughts from the Woods

When you walk through the build site right now, you hear more than machines and tools. You hear laughter, conversations, and the kind of energy that only comes when a community rallies together to create something bigger than themselves.

This Bike Park isn’t being handed down by a city planner. It isn’t just a construction project dropped into the Valley. It’s the culmination of years of local riders, volunteers, and advocates pushing, building, and dreaming.

A Community at Work

On the ground, we’ve got the same local trail builders who shaped the singletrack network we all love — once called “rogue,” now recognized as experts.

They’re out here side-by-side with industry leaders like Peak Play and Cabin Works, shaping features that meet world-class standards while staying rooted in Edmonton’s terrain.

Lessons Learned, Near and Far

This park is built on experience — not just our own, but from countless places we’ve studied and visited.

  • From the massive flow trails of Whistler to the red rock of Moab, the community-driven scene in Bentonville, and Alberta’s own successes in Hinton, Nordegg, Canmore, Valemount, and Grande Prairie

    • — we’ve paid attention to what works, what lasts, and what creates joy for riders of all levels.

A Partnership for the Long Run

The City of Edmonton has been part of this too — not as the builders, but as partners ensuring that what we create is sustainable, safe, and supported for the long term.

This collaboration means the park won’t just open strong; it will endure for generations.

Why It Matters

So when people ask, “Who’s building this?” the answer is simple: We all are. Volunteers, experts, partners, sponsors, and the City — each playing a role in a project that blends grassroots passion with professional craft.

This is Edmonton’s Bike Park.

It’s being built by the community, for the community — and it shows in every berm, every feature, and every hour of sweat poured into the dirt.
