Volunteer at Edmonton Bike Park

Help Build Edmonton’s First Mountain Bike Park

Construction is underway in Queen Elizabeth Park, and we’re opening volunteer build shifts to help bring Edmonton Bike Park across the finish line.

This is a community-led project years in the making — built by local riders, volunteers, partners, and supporters. Whether you ride every week, are brand new to mountain biking, or just want to help create something special for Edmonton, there’s a place for you on the build.

Volunteer shifts are now open. Come be part of it.

Current Volunteer Shift Schedule

Volunteer build days are currently planned for:

Thursday evenings
4:30 PM – 9:00 PM

Saturdays
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Shift availability may change based on weather, site conditions, contractor schedule, and the type of work happening that week. There may be multiple shifts during a build day.

What Volunteers Will Be Helping With

Volunteer work may include:

Trail building support
Hand finishing, shaping, raking, packing, drainage touch-ups, and general trail work.

Landscaping and site cleanup
Topsoil, seeding prep, planting support, cleanup, moving materials, and helping the site come together.

Skills area support
Ground prep, feature support, and build assistance as the skills area moves forward.

General help
No special trail building experience needed. If you can follow direction, work safely, and bring a good attitude, we can use your help.

Safety First

This is an active construction site. For everyone’s safety:

  • Sign up before attending

  • Check in with the volunteer lead when you arrive

  • Stay within assigned work areas

  • Follow all instructions from site leads and contractors

  • Wear appropriate footwear and clothing

  • Do not ride unfinished trails or features

The faster we build safely, the sooner Edmonton gets to ride.

e. It's easy.

Do I Need Experience?

Nope.

Some tasks will be better suited to experienced trail builders, but many volunteer jobs are beginner-friendly. We’ll have leads on site to explain the work, assign tasks, and make sure everyone is working safely.

You do not need to be an EMBA member to care about this project — but EMBA members and local riders are especially encouraged to come help build the park they’ll soon be riding.

What to Bring

Please come prepared for outdoor work.

Bring:

  • Work gloves

  • Sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots

  • Water bottle

  • Weather-appropriate clothing

  • Sunscreen / bug spray

  • Snacks if needed

  • A positive attitude

Tools will be coordinated by the build leads. Please only bring personal tools if the shift details specifically ask for them.

Where to Go

Edmonton Bike Park is located in Queen Elizabeth Park, east of the Walterdale Bridge.

Specific meeting location will be included in the volunteer shift details when you sign up.

Please do not enter active construction areas outside of scheduled volunteer shifts. Please do not drive down to the bike park unless permission has been granted.

Why Volunteer?

Because this park belongs to the community.

Every shovel, rake, wheelbarrow, and volunteer hour helps turn years of advocacy and planning into a real place for riders to progress, learn, and have fun.

Edmonton Bike Park will create a dedicated space for:

  • New riders learning skills

  • Kids and families building confidence

  • Experienced riders progressing safely

  • The broader riding community to gather

  • Edmonton’s trail culture to grow

This is your chance to say: I helped build that.
